No Child Left Behind

COVID-19 has caused significant changes in our daily lives, changes that have occurred suddenly and rapidly. Some of these changes are the disruptions to schools and universities, which resulted to their closure that affected the world’s student population. All face-to-face classes where cancelled due to the pandemic, and are forced to online learning.

Many teachers, professors, and students who prefer in-person instruction have found the abrupt transition to totally online or distance learning to be extremely unpleasant. I, myself had felt the same way. Imagine, one day everything was normal, going to school, meet your friends, getting to learn face-to-face. But the next day, everything collapses, which is a shock to us. Students are struggling. Some methods of learning are conducted without the presence of a teacher or facilitator, and students may become perplexed about how to go through the course, particularly if they are unaware of the expected or desired conclusion. Students may require continual assistance from their lecturers via virtual means at times. These types of learning are conducted without the interaction between students and professors found in the traditional classroom, administrators might anticipate their pupils to feel isolated. Students who are forced to complete their education from the comfort of their own homes confront a new set of distractions that may prevent them from finishing the essential material. Adding also the fact that a lot of learners have stopped attending school, for they are financially incapable of it. We can help them out by listening and complying to their needs. Giving them their necessities to keep up with this new normal. These are the rights of students, to learn.

Let’s all move as one, listen to the voice of others. Help them in any way we can. The rights of students to learn should never be taken away from them. One day we can all return back to normal, where these problems would never foster.
