Fiesta Celebration Amidst The Pandemic
Every January 25, the Vigan City Fiesta is held. It
is commemorated on the feast day of St. Paul the Apostle's conversion. Vigan
City's patron saint is St. Paul. St. Paul was known as Saul before his
conversion, and he was a fanatical persecutor of Christians. His name was
changed to Paul after he had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his
route to Damascus, and he faced many hardships and dangers in order to proclaim
the gospel of God to distant lands.
It is
a tradition for Biguenos to celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta. But with the rise
of COVID-19 patients in 2020, we were not able to celebrate. This pandemic has
given each and every one of us a hard time, shutting down stores, forced to
stay inside our houses. Gone, were the days we were able to freely go outside. Now,
it is made possible to go outside, possible to celebrate the Fiesta as for the
reason that we were able to decrease the number of patients and we were also
able to provide vaccines for the citizens.
Although
we are far from the normal we used to know, I know we are getting there. I know
that after everything that has happened we will always come back to normal. With
every passing day, with every passing hour, minute, second, there is always a
part of me excited that we are getting closer to normal
